Psychological distress and its associated factors in health workers during COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal: An online survey

Introduction: Psychological distress among healthcare workers amidst COVID-19 pandemic has emerged as a serious health problem. Understanding its magnitude is crucial to guide policies and interventions improve their psychological wellbeing. This study assessed the associated factors care in Nepal during pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was carried out 427 currently working from April 25 June 10, 2020. measured using “The Kessler Distress Scale” (K10). Descriptive statistics inferential were computed at 5% level of significance. Ethical approval taken Health Research Council. Results: total participated study. Out participants, 50.4% males. Nearly half participants medical doctors (48%) followed by nurses (22.2%), assistants (12.2%) 61% non-government employees. The who experienced symptoms 28.9%. 123 respondents had distress, 19% mild, 7.3% moderate 2.6% severe distress. Female more likely have than males [AOR: 1.75, CI: 1.05-2.92]. Conclusions: matter concern. issue demands urgent comprehensive intervention embracing provision supportive environment protective equipment, screening outcomes counseling especially targeting female workers.
